This invention relates to a concentrating solar collector that concentrates the intensity of the sunlight by both refraction and reflection. The solar collector comprises light guide prisms on the sides of the collector, which directs the sunlight to the sunlight receiver. Sunlight enters the light guide prism via the incident surface and reflected by the reflection surface and then subsequently exits at the exiting surface. With a surface dedicated for sunlight exiting, it overcomes many shortfalls of prior arts and provides a wide angle of incident light ray while maintaining a high concentration ratio.
