The invention is directed to processes and apparatus embracing a flotation column (10) for pulp separation into float and nonfloat fractions. The flotation column (10) is provided with a series of two or more vertically spaced recycle chambers (60) and feeder line (20) located at the upper end of the column (10). The non float fraction that descends in the column (10) is repeatedly reintroduced into the recycle chambers and continually mixed with the pulp while coursing through the column (10).
