A compound loudspeaker drive unit comprising a first drive unit and a second drive unit arranged co-axial with respect to the center axis of the loudspeaker, and each drive unit comprises permanent magnet means and pole piece means together forming a magnetic circuit with a pole gap for exciting a voice coil assembly, each pole gap providing magnetic field directed radially with respect to a center axis of the loudspeaker. At least one of the permanent magnet means has a radially extending magnetization direction with respect to said center axis of the loudspeaker and the acoustic centers of said drive units substantially coincide.
Un excitateur pour haut-parleur complexe comprend un premier excitateur et un deuxime excitateur mont~ coaxialement avec l'axe central du haut-parleur, chaque excitateur comprenant un systme d'aimants permanents et un systme de pices polaires formant un circuit magn~tique avec un entrefer polaire destin~ ~ exciter un ensemble de bobine mobile; chaque entrefer polaire cr~e un champ magn~tique dirig~ radialement par rapport ~ l'axe central du haut-parleur. Au moins un systme d'aimants permanents a une direction d'aimantation dirig~e radialement par rapport audit axe central du haut-parleur, et les centres acoustiques de ces unit~s d'attaque co~ncident sensiblement.
