ABSTRACT Disclosed is a fastening assembly for use in a concrete structure, in combination with, and under participation of, an apertured metal plate, com- prising: an embed for anchoring in concrete, having an elongated stem made of steel, further having a receiver element extending from the stem at one end thereof, and having a threaded bore not extending into the stem. The receiver further has a cylindrical portion of a larger outer diameter than the stem, but loss than twice the diameter of the latter, there being a transition from the cylindrical portion to the stem, the threaded portion of the bore being limited to the cylindrical portion of the receiver. The transition is shorter than the cylindrical portion. The stem is considerably longer than the receiver and, further, is provided with at least one radial extension for being anchored in the concrete in such a manner that, in use, the receiver element does not project from but is flush with, or recessed from, a surface of the concrete. Part of the embed is shaped to impede turning thereof. A threaded element is threaded into the bore, and extends, in use, beyond the surface of the concrete; and there is a fastener on the threaded element, for tightening the apertured plate, in use, directly against the concrete surface.
