DESCRIPTIVE ABSTRACT The concrete according to the invention has durability and mechanical strength characteristics equivalent to prestressed concretes. It comprises fibres (20) embedded in a conventional concrete, said fibres either being shape memory metal alloy fibres, or thenmoretract- able fibres. A subsequent heat treatment makes it possible for these fibres to assume a shape making it possible to impose compressive stresses throughout the volume of the cast or fluid concrete. Application to the manufacture of radioactive waste containers. (single drawing) B 10714 JB
