A concrete-finishing apparatus (10) comprises a relatively quickly rotating, powered roller (18) adapted to be moved relatively slowly across a bed, slab or layer of newly-laid concrete (11), while the latter is still fluid, with opposite ends (14, 15) of the roller maintained at the required level of the concrete surface, in order to produce a smoothed finish to the surface of the concrete, said roller (18): a) containing internal stressing means (44) for applying longitudinal compression to the roller, between the ends (14, 15) of the roller, so as to reduce the tendency of the roller to sag or become permanently bowed; and/or b) being adapted to be removed from the remainder of the apparatus (10) and dismantled, when not in use, into constituent, smaller, parts.
Appareil de finition (10) du béton comprenant un cylindre mécanique (18), tournant relativement rapidement, conçu pour se déplacer relativement lentement sur une plaque, une dalle ou une couche de béton venant d'être étalé (11), tandis que ce dernier est toujours fluide, les extrémités opposés du cylindre maintenues au niveau requis de la surface du béton pour former un fini lisse à sa suface. Ce cylindre (18): a) renferme un dispositf de mise en tension (44) servant à appliquer une compresssion longitudinale sur le cylindre, entre les extrémités (14, 15) de celui-ci, de façon à ce qu'il n'ait plus tendance à se fléchir ou à rester en permanence courbé; et/ou b) peut-être retiré du restant de l'appareil et démonté en petites pièces, lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé.
