ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A condensation preventing apparatus comprises a head for writing information into a storage medium and for reading the information from the storage medium; temperature detecting elements for detecting the temperature of the head and condensation detecting elements for detecting condensation on the head. The temperature detecting elements and the condensation detecting elements are provided in the vicinity of the head. Heating is provided for heating the head. A control system is provided for causing the heater elements to be energized on the basis of the outputs from the temperature detecting elements and the condensation detecting elements if said head is below a predetermined temperature or condensation exists on said head at temperatures above said predetermined temperature.
