An exhaust and air intake conduit system for fuel-fired appliances having an induced draft blower at the exhaust. The system comprises an air intake conduit having a terminal end adapted to protrude outside of a building containing the appliances to feed outside air to at least one of the appliances. The terminal end has an intake opening. A protective screen covers the intake opening. An exhaust conduit also has a terminal end adapted to protrude outside the building. The exhaust conduit has an outlet opening provided with a protective screen. The outlet opening is spaced from the intake opening a predetermined distance sufficient to prevent hot vapors exiting the outlet opening of the exhaust conduit to form ice on the intake opening of the intake conduit during cold weather conditions, thereby preventing water condensate to be drawn into the appliance by the air flowing into the intake conduit.
