ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a rotating apparatus a Radio Frequency Oscillator is used to transmit, by induction means, information from the rotating portion to the stationary portion. The RF oscillator consists of a stationary amplifier, with positive feedback to cause oscillation, connected to the primary (stationary) winding of a rotary transformer which is inductively coupled to a frequency determining resonant circuit via the secondary winding, both located on the rotating member. The resonant circuit has an additional reactance element which can be switched into and out of the circuit to change the frequency of the RF oscillator. This change of frequency can be detected on the stationary side. Analogue or two-state operation can be provided and power for the equipment of the rotating member is obtained by rectifying the RF voltage appearing on the secondary of the rotary transformer.
