The invention includes a method for a client (122) to remotely conduct a laboratory experiment (118) using a remote computer (120) communicating with a host computer (110) in a computer network (126). The experiment is stimulated by a set of input variable (116) and provides a set of dependent output variables (1160). The method includes the steps of an instructor (112) setting up the experiment at a central location, determining a tolerance band for each input variable of the experiment (136), and restricting a range of each tolerance band (137). The instructor enters into the host computer a program (138) to run the experiment. The client remotely access the experiment using the remote computer. The instructor enables the client to conduct the experiment and simultaneously limits the client to the range of each tolerance band.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant à un client de réaliser une expérience de laboratoire à distance au moyen d'un ordinateur à distance connecté à un ordinateur central via un réseau informatique. Cette expérience est stimulée par un ensemble de variables d'entrés et produit un ensemble de variables de sortie dépendantes. Ce procédé consiste en ce que un instructeur met au point l'expérience dans un emplacement central, détermine ensuite les tolérances admises pour chaque variable d'entrée de l'expérience, puis délimite la plage des tolérances admises. L'instructeur introduit dans l'ordinateur central un programme pour exécuter l'expérience, y compris l'ensemble de variables d'entrée, et la plage de tolérances admises de chaque variable d'entrée. Le client accède à distance à l'expérience au moyen de l'ordinateur à distance. L'instructeur permet au client de mener l'expérience et restreint simultanément son champ d'action à la plage de tolérances admises.
