ABSTRACT The invention provides a dynamic electrically conductive cable comprising at least one electrically conductive core within an optional insulating layer, an optional flexible sheath at least partially encapsulating the said at least one electrically conductive core and optional insulating layer and at least one resilient plastics material outer coating encasing the said optional flexible sheath and formed as a flexible helical coil so that the cable is resiliently extendable between a contracted and an extended condition and in which the coil has an extended length to contracted length ratio of greater than 20:1 and in which the diameter of the coil is less than or equal to 20 cm. The invention also provides a booster cable comprising positive and negative conductive cores at least partially encapsulated by respective insulating layers, the insulating layers being encased within at least one resilient plastics material outer coating, the said coating being formed as a flexible helical coil so that the cable is resiliently extendable between a contracted and an extended condition and in which the coil has an extended length to contracted length ratio of greater than 20:1 and in which the diameter of the coil is less than or equal to 20 cm.
