A masking tape for EMI shielding applications comprising an adhesive layer, a metal foil layer adhered to the top of the adhesive layer, one or more adhesive strips running parallel to the edges of the tape and extending along the length of the foil. The one or more strips are preferably inset from the outer edges of the foil so as to form a stepped, indented or notch-like configuration. A mask layer is attachad to the top of the one or more strips. The mask alone or the mask and the one or more strips are designed to be removed after use. The tape is applied to a substrate such as a computer cabinet, the cabinet is then sprayed with a paint or finish coat and the mask is removed to reveal a conductive metal foil surface to which a conductive EMI shield can be mounted.
La présente invention a pour objet un ruban cache destiné aux applications de protection pour blindages EMI; le ruban cache en question comporte une couche adhésive, une feuille métallique collée à la partie supérieure de la couche adhésive, une ou deux bandes adhésives étant disposées parallèlement aux bords du ruban cache sur toute la longueur de la feuille métallique. De préférence, la ou les bandes adhésives sont déportées vers l'intérieur des bords externes de la feuille métallique, de manière à former un joint étagé ou une configuration à gradins. Une couche masque est fixée sur le dessus de la ou des bandes adhésives. La couche masque ou l'ensemble couche masque et bandes adhésives sont enlevés après usage. Le ruban cache est destiné à être utilisé sur un substrat tel un meuble servant de poste de travail sur ordinateur; une couche de peinture ou un enduit de finition est ensuite appliqué sur le meuble en question et le ruban cache est enlevé, révélant la surface de la feuille métallique devant servir de support au blindage EMI.
