The present invention provides an electrically conductive sheet molding compound composition adapted for electrostatic painting comprising a resin mixture including about 20 to about 60 % by weight of thermoplastic resin based on the total weight of said resin mixture, the thermoplastic resin being selected from the group consisting of styrene-butadiene rubber, polystyrene, saturated polyester resin, and mixtures thereof; fibrous reinforcing material; and conductive material. The conductive material is added to the sheet molding compound composition in a sufficient quantity to render an article molded with said composition with structual integrity and electrically conductive enough to be electrostatically painted.
La présente invention concerne une composition de mélange conducteur à mouler en feuille conçu pour la peinture électrostatique qui comprend un mélange de résines contenant, sur la base du poids total dudit mélange de résine, environ 20 % à environ 60 % en poids de résine thermoplastique, une charge fibreuse renforçante et un agent conducteur. La résine thermoplastique est choisie parmi un groupe qui comprend un élastomère styrène-butadiène, du polystyrène, une résine de polyester saturé et leurs mélanges. L'agent conducteur est ajouté en quantité suffisante à la composition de mélange à mouler en feuille de manière à ce qu'un article, moulé à l'aide de ladite composition, ait une intégrité structurale et soit suffisamment conducteur pour pouvoir être peint électrostatiquement.
