CANADIAN PATENT APPLICATION OF KARL SIEVERT PALMGREN FOR A CONDUIT-BREAK VALVE FOR A PRESSURE CONDUIT OR HOSE WITH A SURROUNDING PROTECTIVE CONDUIT OR HOSE Abstract of the Disclosure: A conduit-break valve for a double conduit has a pressure relief device with a pilot controlled check valve with a control piston which is actuated by the pressure in the space between the double conduits and opens the check valve when a limit value determined by the spring thereof is exceeded. The check valve there- by relieves the pressure in a fluid lock which is formed by a piston and cylinder mechanism the cylinder of which is normally kept closed by the check valve and the pis- ton of which is connected to the valve member of the main valve, whereby said valve member will be moved 1a to closed position by the action of a pressure spring when the check valve is opened. A reduction of the pres- sure in the space between the double conduits results in the spring moving the piston and the main valve member connected thereto towards closed position, thereby giv- ing rise to a fluid flow through a one-way restrictor which is thereby opened and propagates the pressure caused by the spring to the control piston, whereby the pilot controlled check valve relieves the pressure in the fluid lock formed by the piston and cylinder mechanism. 1b
