A method and apparatus for tracking participation in a conference call is disclosed. A conference tracker at a first location transmits a status signal to another conference tracker at a second location. The conference tracker at the second location receives the status signal and recognizes it as representative of an attribute of one or more of the parties at the first location. The attribute represented may be the identity of the first location, thereby informing the conference tracker at the second location that the first location remains connected to the conference call. In this manner, the conference tracker may inform a party of the number of connected locations or that a particular location has disconnected. The attribute represented may be the listening party of the location of the speaking party. The attribute represented may be the identity of the speaking party, thereby enabling the conference tracker at the second location to determine which party is speaking. Status signals transmitted by each conference tracker may comprise audio pulses of unique frequencies, thereby enabling each conference tracker to determine the origin of each status signal. Consecutive pulses may be used to identify a particular status (e.g., connected or speaking).
Une méthode et un appareillage permettant de suivre la participation à un appel conférence sont divulgués. Un dispositif de suivi de conférence d'un premier emplacement envoie un signal d'état à un autre dispositif de ce type, situé à un second emplacement. Le dispositif du second emplacement reçoit le signal d'état et reconnaît qu'il est représentatif d'un attribut d'un ou de plusieurs des participants au premier emplacement. L'attribut représenté peut être l'identité du premier emplacement, cette information indiquant au dispositif de suivi du second emplacement que le premier emplacement demeure à l'état de connexion pour l'appel conférence. Les signaux d'état transmis par chaque dispositif de suivi peuvent comprendre des impulsions audio de fréquences distinctes, qui permettent à chaque dispositif de suivi de déterminer l'origine de chaque signal d'état. Des impulsions consécutives peuvent désigner un état particulier (p. ex. connexion ou prise de parole).
