According to one embodiment, a conference system which includes a plurality of client terminals to be connected with a communication network, and a conference unit supporting conferences to be held among the plurality of client terminals via the communication network, comprising a resource control unit which dynamically allocate a resource of the conference unit to be consumed for supporting the conferences for each group to individually hold the conferences in response to occurrences of events showing changes in states of client terminals belonging to the group, and a release control unit which releases at least a part of the resources to be allocated to groups in which the events occur while the conferences are held under preset conditions.
