An optical fiber rotation sensor having an ordinary single mode fiber coil (10) with a depolarizer (10') in series therewith configured with component optical path lengths therein and birefringent axes relationships therein chosen with respect to the source autocorrelation. Amplitude related phase errors due to polarization mode coupling can be eliminated or reduced economically, and signal fading can be substantially prevented.

Détecteur de rotation à fibres optiques, comportant un enroulement de fibres (10) monomode ordinaire (10') à monter en série avec un dépolariseur (10') configuré à l'intérieur avec des trajets optiques composites et des relations d'axes biréfringeants choisies par rapport à l'autocorrélation de source. Des erreurs de phase liées à l'amplitude et consécutives au couplage de modes de polarisation peuvent être éliminées ou réduites de manière économique, et l'évanouissement des signaux peut être pratiquement évité.
