Conformal filter cartridges (10), filtering apparatus using the conformal filter cartridges, and methods of manufacturing the conformal filter cartridges are disclosed. The conformal filter cartridges may include a bed of filter material (40) between a pair of support plates (50,60), wherein the major surfaces (41,43) of the support plates facing the bed of filter material are each curved about at least one axis. The curvature imparted by the support plates provides the conformal configuration to the filter cartridge. The bed of filter material may be loose particulate filter material that may be retained under residual compression between the support plates within the filter cartridge.
La présente invention se rapporte à des cartouches filtrantes conformes (10), à un appareil filtrant faisant appel auxdites cartouches filtrantes conformes, et à des procédés de fabrication desdites cartouches filtrantes conformes. Les cartouches filtrantes conformes selon l'invention peuvent comporter un lit de matière filtrante (40) placé entre deux plaques de support (50, 60), chacune des surfaces principales (41, 43) des plaques de support faisant face au lit de matière filtrante étant incurvée autour d'au moins un axe. L'incurvation impartie par les plaques de support confère à la cartouche filtrante sa configuration conforme. Le lit de matière filtrante peut se présenter sous la forme d'une matière filtrante particulaire qui peut être retenue, sous l'effet d'une compression résiduelle, entre les plaques de support à l'intérieur de la cartouche filtrante.
