A composite fiber of a core-shell type having EVOH as a shell component (B) and another thermoplastic polymer as a core component (A), characterized in that, in a cross section of the fiber, the core component (A) has 10 or more of projected portions or is present as an array with 10 or more flat elements of the core component, wherein adjacent projected portions or flat elements of the core component have a space of 1.5 µm or less between them, both the directions of the projected portion and the long axis of the flat element of the core component intersects the perimeter of the cross section of the fiber with an angle of 90 .plusmn. 15~, and the ratio (X) of the total perimeter length of the core component to the perimeter length of the composite fiber and the mass composite proportion (C) of the core component in the whole fiber satisfy the following formula: X/C >= 2.

L'invention concerne une fibre composite du type coeur-gaine comprenant un EVOH comme composant de gaine (B) et un autre polymère thermoplastique comme composant de coeur (A). L'invention se caractérise en ce que, dans la section transversale de la fibre, le composant de coeur (A) comprend au moins 10 éléments plats ou se présente sous la forme d'un réseau comportant au moins 10 éléments plats du composant de coeur, des parties saillantes adjacentes ou des éléments plats du composant de coeur étant séparés par un espace inférieur ou égal à 1,5 µm, la direction des parties saillantes et l'axe longitudinal des éléments plats du composant de coeur faisant intersection avec le périmètre de la section transversale de la fibre avec un angle de 90· ? 15·. Le rapport (X) entre la longueur du périmètre totale du composant de coeur et la longueur du périmètre de la fibre composite ainsi que la proportion en masse (C) du composant de coeur dans l'ensemble de la fibre satisfont à la formule suivante: X/C >= 2.
