A connected wood member using peeler cores that are joined end-to-end. The connected wood member includes a first peeler core having a tenon centered on a first end of the first peeler core and a second peeler core having a corresponding mortise centered on a first end of the second peeler core. The mortise is configured to snugly receive the tenon in close mating engagement such that the first peeler core and the second peeler core are longitudinally aligned when the tenon is inserted in the mortise. A layer of adhesive is sandwiched between the tenon and the mortise to bond the first peeler core and the second peeler core together. The adhesive is a high-strength waterproof polyurethane adhesive that reacts positively with moisture to create a bond. The second peeler core may have a bore that is in fluid communication with the mortise such that air trapped in the mortise or any excess adhesive may flow through the bore to allow close fitting of the tenon within the mortise for optimized bonding of the surface of the tenon with the surface of the mortise.
