A method and apparatus for mounting components such as stems (36) to other components such as plugs (38) is provided. In accordance with the present invention, a method of connecting and locking a stem (36) within a component (38) includes the step of disposing the stem (36) in a first end of a passage formed in the component (38). The method continues by deforming an end portion (39) of the stem (36) to permanently non-rotationally lock the stem (36) within the passage of the component (36). The step of deforming includes pressing a coining device (22) into a second end of the passage to engage with an end portion (39) of the stem (36) and configure the stem (36) for permanent non-rotational mounting within the component (36).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de fixer des composants, tels que des tiges (36) sur d'autres composants tels que des bougies d'allumage (38). Selon cette invention, un procédé de connexion et de verrouillage d'une tige (36) à l'intérieur d'un composant (38) comprend l'étape de disposition de la tige (36) dans une première extrémité d'un passage formé dans ledit composant (38), puis, une étape de déformation d'une portion d'extrémité (39) de ladite tige (36), afin de verrouiller en permanence de façon non rotative la tige (39) au sein du passage du composant (36).
