A b s t r a c t: A device including two substantially identical con- nectors for detachably interconnecting a plurality of rods and shafts in a vast number of relative po- sitions, so as to form spatial structures of various configurations. Each connector comprises a primary, tubular sleeve having a toothed rim on one end face, and a second- ary, tubular sleeve integral with the surface of the primary sleeve and disposed at a right angle rela- tively thereto with one end face adjacent the toothed end face of the primary sleeve. The plane of this end face preferably coincides with the axis of the secondary sleeve. The opposite end face of the secondary sleeve is preferably provided with a toothed rim similar to that of the primary sleeve, and the length of the primary sleeve is preferably equal to half the length of the secondary sleeve. One of the sleeves may have a circular cross section to provide a bearing for a shaft rotatably mounted therein, while the bore of the other sleeve may have a non-circular cross section providing for non-rota- tably fitting the end of a splined shaft having a complementary non-circular cross section. When assembling the two connectors of the device by meshing the teeth of their primary sleeves, they may be interlocked by means of a resilient, compressible, tubular plug inserted in the ends of the adjacent, co-axially disposed primary sleeves.
