A connecting bar makes an in-line, push- pull connection between two bicycles. The bar has couplings to the bicycles, permitting universal pivoting, one at each end of the bar. When misalignment between the two bicycles is excessive one of the couplings automatically breaks away, allowing the two bicycles then to be ridden independently. The broken coupling can be reconnected while the bicycles are in motion.
