ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A connecting device is provided particularly for tubular struc- tural elements having at least one connecting end provided with a recess and connectable with a connecting end of another structural element preferably by screwing so as to form a butt joint. For an easy mounting and demounting the connecting device has a sleeve-shaped expansible member which is inserta- ble into the recess, an expansion member having an expansion surface which cooperates with a correspondingly formed surface of the expansible member over a large surface area, and a pin which is a throughgoing threaded pin and serves for tightening the expansion member in the expansible member by being screwed into an inner threaded portion of this expansion member. The expansion member and/or the pin are provided with a first turn locking device which impedes or hinders an easy releasing of the pin after its tightening in the expansion member. This measure makes it possible to form the pin as a normal threaded pin. After screwing this pin in the expansion member the latter can be tightened in the expansible member for example by exer- ting a limited pulling force onto the pin by means of an elec- tric screwdriver.
