There is suggested a connecting member for an optical fibre cable including at least one optical fibre core. The connecting member consists of a cylindrical base body (10), a holding part (30) being disposed in the base body (10) and comprising at least one holding bore (32) for the optical fibre core (7, 9) as well as a compression surface (38) in the region of one end of the holding bore (32), a thrust part (50) being disposed in the base body (10), the thrust part comprising a through bore (52) being concentrical with respect to the holding bore (32) in the holding part (30) and comprising a thrust face (58) co-operating with the compression surface (38) of the holding part (30), and a screwing part (14) being screwed onto the base body (10) and being able to press the thrust part (50) against the holding part (30), whereby the holding bore (32) is narrowed at least in the region of the compression surface (38) due to the pressure exerted onto the compression surface (38) by the thrust face (58). Furthermore, a method for connecting an optical fibre cable with such a connecting member is described.
