A spline, tongue, connector, or snap connector is described and useful for connecting a variety of surface covering products together. In one embodiment the spline is a polymeric material having an elongated shape and dimensions such that the spline has a sufficient width to fit into and extend outside of a groove in a side edge of a first plank and to fit into a respective groove in a side edge of a second plank. The spline may be concealed from view when the first plank and the second plank are connected together by the spline. A surface covering system for connecting two or more planks together is also described as well as methods to connect two or more planks together using the splines of the present invention.
La présente invention concerne une languette, un connecteur ou un connecteur à pression destiné à connecter divers revêtements de surface entre eux. Dans un mode de réalisation de l'invention, cette languette est un matériau polymère de forme allongée et dont les dimensions sont telles que cette languette possède une largeur suffisante pour s'adapter dans une encoche respective située dans un bord latéral d'une première planche et se prolonger à l'extérieur de cette encoche, et pour s'adapter dans une encoche respective située dans un bord latéral d'une seconde planche. Cette languette peut être cachée hors de vue lorsque la première et la seconde planche sont connectées entre elles par cette languette. Cette invention concerne aussi un système de revêtement de surface destiné à connecter au moins deux planches entre elles de même que des techniques permettant de connecter au moins deux planches entre elles par l'utilisation des languettes, objet de cette invention.
