Bellows expansion joint is disclosed which is fitted with bridles and installed between the tuyere connections of a blast furnace and the hot-gas main to compensate for thermal expansion and relative movement and also to transmit forces. In the course of routine replacement of wear parts in the tuyere connection, it is also necessary to remove at least the elbow section (4) so that the section of connecting pipe (5) lined with refractory material (14) then hangs free on the expansion joint (1). In order to attain short replacement times, the expansion joint (1) according to the invention is fastened by means of a securing device and is released again once the maintenance work is completed. In the embodiment illustrated, the securing device consists of two flat tie bars (6) which are rigidly connected to the upper flange (7) of the expansion joint. Threaded rods (9) are attached to the lower flange (8) of the expansion joint and extend through slots (12) into the flat bars (6). In order fasten the lower flange of the expansion joint (8), nuts (10) and counter-nuts (11) are screwed onto the threaded rod (9) and forced into frictional engagement with the fiat bars by tightening the counter-nuts (11). As an alternative, hydraulic means is described to provide the frictional engagement.
