A connector comprises a housing of insulating material. The housing has a mounting surface provided with a plurality of grooves. Each groove has a groove entrance directed away from the mounting surface. A metal connection element is mounted in each groove by clamping. The connection element is accessible through the groove entrance. The metal connection elements can be made as solid rods or preferably as hollow tubes. In this case the tubes may have a longitudinal slot connecting the hollow inner side of the tube with the environment, wherein the slot is directed away from the mounting surface of the housing.
