A B S T R A C T A connector for making and end-face butt joint between two plates . The plates are in each case provided in the connecting zone with two connector fittings with at least one clamping screw which is mounted in each case in one of the fittings and supported on the other and which applies a traction force mutually connecting the structural elements . An adjustment device is provided for adjusting the relative positions of the connector fittings and thus of the plates in height at right angles relative to the clamping direction. In one of the connector fittings there is arranged an elastic ,or elastically pre-stressed locking part which when the fittings are mutually assembled engages in or with the adjustment device mounted in the respective other connector fitting and thus mutually couples the two connector fittings
