ABSTRACT A connector for endwise connection of two panels wherein each panel has in the connecting region a fitment member , with at least one tie anchor which is supported on a respective one of the fitment members and which applies a tensile force for connecting the panels by means of clamping means , by way of the fitment members . In accordance with the invention the connector has an adjusting means for rapid and sensitive adjustment of the relative positions of the panels perpendicularly to the pulling direction of the tie anchor . That relative adjustment of the panels is effected prior to the panels being definitively pulled together by way of the tie anchor .
