ROGERS, BERESKIN & PARR C A N A D A INVENTION: CONNECTOR FOR GANGING CHAIRS INVENTOR: JAMES HAYWARD ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a connector for use in releasably joining chairs of tubular construction in side- by-side relationship to form straight rows. The connector is constructed in two separate parts shaped to form a collar securable about a first tubular member used in the con- struction of the chair, and apertured to permit the connector parts to be secured to the tubular member with a bolt passed through the connectors and the first tubular member. A first connector part carries a connecting element, either a tongue or a groove shaped to receive a tongue in interlocking engagement. The second part is provided with a depression shaped to closely receive an end portion of a second tubular member of the chair and disposed about the aperture in the second connector part so that the threaded end of the bolt can be secured in the second tubular member. The connector so constructed serves simultaneously to form a joint of the chair, joining for example a leg of the chair to a cross-bar or seat support member, and to mount the connecting element, so that the chair can be ganged with another chair provided with a corresponding element.
