A conductive spring device (46, Fig. 8) is described, which shorts a pair of connector terminals (14, 16) when the connector (12) is not mated to a second connector device (18). The spring device is of the type having a fixed anchor end (50) connected to a first terminal and an opposite contacting end portion (44) which can pivot in a shorting direction (S) to move outwardly (O) and also sidewardly (A) against the second terminal, and which can be forced to pivot in an unshorting direction (U) to move inwardly and sidewardly away from the second terminal. An isolator (92) of insulative material surrounds an inner portion of the second terminal, so when the contacting end portion is in its unshorting position, it cannot move sidewardly against the second terminal. The spring device is formed of a piece of sheet metal with its anchor end (50) having a hole that closely receives the first terminal, the spring device also having a tab (100) which projects inwardly into a slot (102) in the insulative base of the connector to limit pivoting of the spring device about the first terminal.
L'invention concerne un dispositif conducteur à ressort (46, fig. 8) qui met en court-circuit une paire de bornes (14, 16) de connecteur lorsque le connecteur (12) n'est pas accouplé à un deuxième dispositif connecteur (18). Le dispositif à ressort est du type comportant une extrémité d'ancrage fixe (50) connectée à une première borne et, vis-à-vis, un contact d'extrémité (44) qui peut pivoter dans une direction (S) correspondant à un état de court-circuit, pour se déplacer vers l'extérieur (O) et peut aussi pivoter de côté (A) contre la deuxième borne et qui peut être forcé à pivoter dans une direction (U) qui ne produira pas de court-circuit pour se déplacer vers l'intérieur et latéralement à l'écart de la deuxième borne. Un isolateur (92) en matériau isolant entoure une partie intérieure de la deuxième borne, ainsi, lorsque la partie d'extrémité de contact n'est pas en position de court-circuit, elle ne peut pas se déplacer latéralement contre la deuxième borne. Le dispositif à ressort est formé d'une feuille de métal, son extrémité d'ancrage (50) comportant un orifice qui reçoit, de manière serrée, la première borne, le dispositif à ressort comportant également une patte (100) qui projette vers l'intérieur dans une fente (102) du socle isolant du connecteur pour limiter le pivotement du dispositif à ressort au droit de la première borne.
