The invention discloses the first known function and biological activity of the hypothetical protein MGC14327, now designated cMAC, which is herein identified as an important controller of T-cell activation. It is contemplated herein that cMAC is a suitable drug target for the development of new therapeutics to treat cMAC-associated disorders. The invention relates to methods to treat said pathological conditions and to pharmaceutical compositions therefore. The pharmaceutical compositions comprise modulators with inhibitory or agonist effect on cMAC protein activity and/or cMAC gene expression. The invention also relates to methods to identify compounds with therapeutic usefulness to treat said pathological conditions, comprising identifying compounds that can inhibit or agonize cMAC protein activity and/or cMAC gene expression.
L'invention concerne la première fonction et activité biologique connue de la protéine hypothétique MGC14327, désignée maintenant par cMAC, qui est identifiée ci-après comme un contrôleur important de l'activation des lymphocytes T. Selon l'invention, cMAC constitue une cible de médicament adéquate permettant de mettre au point de nouvelles thérapeutiques destinées à traiter les troubles associés à cMAC. L'invention porte sur des procédés qui permettent de traiter des états pathologiques et sur des compositions pharmaceutiques à cet effet. Les compositions pharmaceutiques comprennent des modulateurs possédant un effet inhibiteur ou agoniste sur l'activité de la protéine cMAC et/ou sur l'expression du gène cMAC. L'invention se rapporte également à des procédés permettant d'identifier des composés à utilité thérapeutique permettant de traiter lesdits états pathologiques, qui consistent à identifier des composés inhibiteurs ou agonistes de l'activité de la protéine cMAC et/ou de l'expression du gène cMAC.
