Abstract A constant velocity joint for torque transmission has inner and outer joint members with part-spherical surfaces having grooves arranged in opposing pairs in meridian planes, and balls in the grooves, the balls being located in apertures of a cage having part-spherical surfaces which engage the part- spherical surfaces of the joint members. The bases of the grooves are not undercut, the base of each groove in the outer joint member comprising a straight line merging with a concave arcuate line, and the base of each groove in the inner joint member comprising a convex arcuate line merging with a straight line. As the angle between the rotary axes of the joint members changes, the balls occupy a plane which bisects that angle.
