Methylation of DNA can be a critical step in the introduction of DNA into P. haemolytica. A methyltransferase has been isolated and molecularly cloned for this purpose. Use of the methyltransferase has allowed construction of defined, attenuated aroA mutants for use as vaccines to protect cattle.
La méthylation de l'ADN peut représenter une étape critique dans l'introduction de l'ADN dans Pasteurella haemolytica. De ce fait, on a isolé une méthyltransférase et on l'a clonée moléculairement. L'utilisation de la méthyltranférase a permis l'élaboration de mutants de aroA atténués déterminés, afin de les mettre en application en tant que vaccins pour protéger le bétail.
