ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A construction unit, and in particular, a compression- resistant, bending-resistant, load bearing construction unit, characterized in that at least two plate or rodlike elements are tensioned with respect to each other to obtain a compressive or tensile stress on said elements. The construction unit consists of at least one shell and support elements which are associated with said shell and subject the latter to tensile stress within the plane thereof.
