A device for diverting sheet, web or mat material treated continuously uses an air cushion (6) formed about a cylindrical surface (4). Infrared transmitters (7), whose radiation is directed to a portion of the material (1) being diverted, are provided in or under the cylindrical surface (4), in addition to the air-blowing means (5) generating the air cushion (6). The same volume therefore houses means for diverting the material (1) and means for heating it, especially in order to dry it. At the same time that the blown air flow generates the air cushion (6), it also cools the infrared transmitters (7). Application, in particular, in the manufacture, transformation and treatment of materials such as paper, fabric and synthetic film.
Ce dispositif de déviation, pour matériau en feuille, en bande ou en nappe (1) traité "au défilé", utilise un coussin d'air (6) établi autour d'une surface cylindrique (4). Dans ou sons la surface cylindrique (4) sont prévus, outre des moyens de soufflage d'air (5) créant le coussin d'air (6), des émetteurs infrarouges (7) dont le rayonnement est dirigé vers la portion du matériau (1) en cours de déviation. A l'intérieur d'un même volume sont ainsi réunis des moyens de déviation du matériau (1) et des moyens de chauffage de ce matériau, notamment en vue de son séchage. De plus, le flux d'air soufflé assure, simultanément à la formation du coussin d'air (6), le refroidissement des émetteurs infrarouges (7). Le dispositif s'applique notamment à la fabrication, à la transformation et au traitement de matériaux tels que papier, tissu, film synthétique.
