ABSTRACT Z6958 Contact lens from hydrophilic gels The contact lens from hydrophilic gels containing 20 to 95 wt,-% if a swelling agent in the equilibrium swollen state, for example, physiological saline, water, or buffer with pH 6.5 to 7.5, which lens contains according to the invention 0.1 to 20 mg of inhibitors of endo- and exoproteases, for example, aprotinin, elastatinal, and soyabean, per one mililiter of the swelling agent. The lens may also advantageously contain steroidal and/or nonsteroidal antiphlogistics and, if desired, also antibiotics. The contact lens is used above all for long-term wearing and may be also used for the treatment of various lesions of anterior eye segment.
