ABSTRACT A contact lens having a warpage tolerance of no greater than 0.10 mm is produced from an organic ester selected from the group consisting of cellulose ester, cellulose acetate butyrate and cellulose propionate by heating the blank in silicone oil at 115 to 145°C for two to six hours to relieve internal stresses.
