This invention relates to a cover for a container and a method for transporting live lobster and other live aquatic crustaceans. The cover comprises: a water absorbent underlay sheet for maintaining the moisture level of a cargo during use; and a heat-conductible overlay sheet overlying a surface of the underlay sheet for evenly transferring the coldness from a cooling means to the underlay sheet during use. The method comprises steps of: loading the cargo into a container; applying a water absorbent underlay sheet for maintaining the moisture level of a cargo during use over the top opening of the container; applying a heat-conductible overlay sheet overlying a surface of the underlay sheet for evenly transferring the coldness from a cooling means to the underlay sheet during use; placing at least one ice pack onto the heat-conductible overlay sheet; and transporting the cargo to its destination.
