ABSTRACT An apparatus forms a woven closed container comprising a case hav- ing two end walls and four side walls extending therebetween. The apparatus has a tabletop having dimensions about the same as those of the container end. A strip carrier arranges and grips one end of a plurality of strips in parallel relationship on the table and longitudinally displaces alternate strips by about one strip width. A gripping mechanism grips the opposite end of the strip to reciprocably displace alternate strips from the normal plane of the strips. Transverse strips are received and directed one at a time between the strips displaced from their normal plane and the alternate strips still in the plane. Hinged wings of the table bend the unwoven ends of the strips, which extend beyond the tabletop, normal to the table. The unwoven ends are alternately reciprocably displaced to accommodate ring members between the alternately displaced ends. Methods are also disclosed for making a filled container formed by this apparatus rigid. In one method, the container is fitted with inflatable bags along its side edges and is pierced to provide access to the bags. A pressurized fluid is then forced into the bags.
