A method and apparatus for use in inactivating pathogens in fluids such as blood or blood components. The apparatus includes a container having a main body portion, a plurality of openings into the main body portion of the container, and at least one weld which partially surrounds at least one opening into the main body portion of the container. The method includes flowing fluid into the container via at least one of the plurality of openings and sealing at least one opening closed by extending the partially surrounding weld so that it completely surrounds the opening.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil utiles pour l'inactivation d'agents pathogènes dans des fluides tels le sang ou des constituants de sang. L'appareil comporte un réceptacle ayant une portion principale de corps, une pluralité d'orifices d'entrée dans la portion principale de corps du réceptacle, et au moins un cordon de soudure qui entoure en partie au moins un orifice d'entrée dans le corps du réceptacle. Le procédé comporte un écoulement de fluide dans le réceptacle à travers au moins un de la pluralité d'orifices et l'étanchéité d'au moins un orifice obturé par le prolongement du cordon de soudure de sorte qu'il entoure complètement l'orifice.
