ABSTRACT A container closure of plastics, preferably injection molded through a centrally placed ingot, comprising a cover panel (11) having a circumferential rim (15) and an opening arrangement on the cover panel provided with a grip portion and a tearing denotation (20) emerging from said grip portion for defining a pouring opening (27). The pouring opening has a pouring area corresponding to a part only of the total panel area, and the pouring opening (27) defined by said tearing denotation (20) extends from a point close to the outer margin to a distal point beyond the central portion of the panel. In one embodiment the tearing denotation is formed by a material thickness reduced groove at the underside of the panel, and at a portion distal to the outer margin of the panel the groove ends and forms a hinge (22) for folding up portions (26,25) of the panel corresponding to the pouring opening. According to one embodiment of the invention a strap shaped portion (25) defining a first subregion of the pouring opening emerges from the grip (24) and said strap shaped portion emerges into a second portion (26) defining the reminder of the pouring opening. According to a further aspect of the invention, the pouring opening (27) has an extension from a point close to the margin of the panel to a point beyond central region of the panel, such that the portion removed from the pouring opening is attachable to the outside of the rim of the closure. According to still a further aspect of the invention, ribs (28) are ranged at that side of the panel where the grip portion (24) is arranged and said ribs extend along the entire strap shaped portion (25) of the panel, and material thickness reduced grooves, defining tearing denotations, are arranged at the opposite side of the panel, in register with said ribs. (The abstract relates to fig.5).
