The present invention provides a container to separate substances contained therein from atmosphere. The container generally comprises a body shell defining a substance compartment and an atmosphere compartment; a means to separate the substance compartment from the atmosphere compartment; a means to allow a substance to pass into and out of the substance compartment; and a means to allow air to flow into and out of the air compartment to substantially equalize pressure within the body shell upon change of volume of substance in the substance compartment. In a preferred embodiment, the means to separate the substance compartment from the atmosphere compartment comprises a non-permeable, flexible diaphragm attached within the body shell.
