A method of making an identifiable article such as a container (124) or container preform (24). A molded plastic container or container preform is provided that includes a wall having at least one layer of matrix resin (38, 40) and at least one layer of barrier resin (42) that is blended with an additive. The wall has at least one localized portion (34) of predetermined geometry in which the barrier layer (42) is thicker than surrounding portions of the wall, and within which the additive is discernable under visible or UV light so as to provide a means to prevent use of counterfeit containers.

La paroi comporte au moins une partie (34) localisée qui présente une géométrie prédéterminée, dans laquelle la couche barrière (42) est plus épaisse que dans les parties environnantes de la paroi et on peut percevoir l'additif dans des conditions de lumière visible ou UV, ce qui permet de prévenir la contrefaçon.
