A paperboard food package having a lid which can be sealed to a food package without the use of adhesive. The package comprises a paperboard container with an outer surface having a bottom surface and a peripheral wall extending upward from a first edge of the bottom surface. An inner surface is located adjacent to the peripheral wall and the outer surface has a polymeric coating located on predetermined areas. A lid has a first side with a polymeric coating and a first section which substantially overlaps the peripheral wall section of the container. The lid has a second section which is located substantially over the predetermined areas of the polymeric coating on the outer surface of the container. The polymeric coatings on the container and the lid form a seal between the container and the lid when the coatings are heated.
La présente invention a pour objet un emballage en carton pour produits alimentaires comportant un couvercle assurant l'étanchéité de l'emballage sans l'utilisation d'adhésifs. L'emballage est constitué d'un contenant en carton dont la surface extérieure forme une surface inférieure ainsi qu'une paroi périphérique saillant à la verticale depuis un premier bord de la surface inférieure. Une surface intérieure adjacente à la paroi périphérique ainsi qu'à la surface extérieure de l'emballage en question est enduite d'un revêtement polymère appliqué sur des régions prédéterminées du contenant. Un couvercle dont le premier côté est enduit d'un revêtement polymère comporte une première région dont la forme correspond essentiellement à la paroi définissant la périphérie du contenant. Le couvercle en question comporte une deuxième région située essentiellement au-dessus des régions prédéterminées préalablement enduites d'un revêtement polymère à la surface extérieure du contenant. Les revêtements polymères dont le contenant et son couvercle sont enduits assurent l'étanchéité au point de rencontre du couvercle et du contenant en question par recours à l'application de chaleur.
