A method, and apparatus for performing the method, is provided for the purpose of forming and inserting seal pieces into a container cap of a type which comprises an integral cup-like member having a top panel, a skirt depending from the top panel, and a plurality of cap lugs formed in the rim and extending partially inward from the rim. A quantity of such caps is supplied onto a surface, preferably with the caps inverted resting on their top panels. The caps are gathered into a plurality of rows and forwarded to screw conveyor mechanisms for advancing the caps to seal inserting stations located substantially coplanar with said assembly surface. The screw conveyor mechanism includes a table with at least two slots therein and conveyor screws extending beneath and along the slots and carrying caps along the table to a discharge location where the caps are temporarily located. A supply strip of flexible seal material is directed into proximity to the inserting stations and precisely cut seal pieces from the strip are inserted into the caps.
La présente invention a trait à un procédé, et un appareil pour la mise en oeuvre du procédé pour la formation et l'insertion de pièces d'étanchéité dans une capsule de contenant du type comportant un organe en forme de godet présentant un pan supérieur, une jupe dépendant du pan supérieur, et une pluralité de pattes de fixation de capsule formées dans le rebord et s'étendant en partie vers l'intérieur depuis le rebord. Une quantité de telles capsules est fournie à une surface, de préférence avec les capsules inversées reposant sur leur pan supérieur. Les capsules sont assemblées en plusieurs rangées et acheminées vers des mécanismes de transporteur à vis sans fin pour faire avancer les capsules vers des postes d'insertion d'opercules situés sensiblement coplanaires avec ladite surface d'assemblage. Le mécanisme de transporteur à vis sans fin comporte une table comprenant au moins deux fentes et des vis de transporteur s'étendant en-dessous et le long des fentes et portant les capsules le long de la table vers un emplacement de décharge où les capsules sont logées temporairement. Une bande d'alimentation de matériau d'opercule flexible est orientée à proximité des postes d'insertion et des pièces d'étanchéité découpées avec précision à partir de la bande sont insérées dans les capsules.
