ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For charging and discharging a freight container, a device for tipping the container has a U-shaped frame, to which two tipping cheeks are connected which are adapted to be raised and lowered together and to pivot and which have rotary locking devices for engaging the lower corner fittings of the freight container. The device can be mobile and self-propelled or towable, is collapsible into a relatively small space when not in use and has hydraulic thrust and tipping actuators.
