Abstract A container unit for the transportation and storage of flowable material in liquid or powder form, has a load-bearing outer container of thermoplastic material and an inner container in the form of a bag made from plastic sheeting and adapted to the interior of the outer container. In the region of its base the outer surface of the container has an outlet pipe spigot with an external screwthread for a cap or for the connection of fittings while the container lid has a closable aperture of large calibre with respect to the outlet pipe spigot. The bag is fillable with the material and is adapted to bear against the outer container in the filled state. The bag has a hose spigot adapted to be secured to the outer edge of the outlet pipe spigot and by means of a valve screwed on the outlet pipe spigot, is closable and openable for emptying purposes. The bag whether completely or partially filled with the filling material is so disposed in the outer container that its top is free of the container lid aperture.
