A pumping assembly for pumping fluid has first and second end plates attached to opposite sides of a pump housing, each end plate forming at least one containment cup aperture. At least one pumping gear is between the first and second end plates. Each pumping gear has a containment cup receptacle corresponding to the containment cup aperture in the end plates, and a shaft passage through the pumping gear between the containment cup receptacles. There are containment cups that are sized to be sealingly inserted from an outer surface of the end plate into each containment cup aperture and the corresponding containment cup receptacle, such that the containment cup engages the end plate and the pumping gear. Each containment cup has a shaft passage corresponding to the shaft passage in the pumping gear, the shaft passages receiving a drive shaft.
